Following the outbreak of Covid-19 in the UK in 2020, the ongoing effects were still felt by many in 2021. Parts of the year saw an ease of restrictions, only for them to come back when new covid strains arose. This photo story focuses on how covid has affected University Park Campus, Nottingham, shown during the Autumn semester of 2021.
Undoubtedly, society wants to get back to 'normal' as soon as possible, with the University putting up signage to enforce mask wearing in buildings, as well as advocating for free testing on campus in desperation to 'keep each other safe'. Some have followed the rules and even worn masks outside like the couple featuring in the enhanced movement shot. Whereas some choose to ignore the problem and not conform, having grown tired of going through the motions, with discarded masks scattered around campus an everyday sight.
The final six photos chosen for this story show the main ways in which the University and members of it are dealing with covid and the impact covid has had on the University grounds; mask wearing, signs everywhere, on-site covid testing and disconnection from each other. The technical requirements for each image were carefully thought out to suit the image idea and tell the story effectively.
